Proviridis buys ADS-TEC to support multi-energy refuelling stations
14 December 2021
Energy infrastructure provider and distributor Proviridis has bought ADS-TEC’s battery energy storage technology to support smart, multi-energy refuelling stations in France. ADS-TEC is part-owned by Bosch Thermotechnik.
Proviridis designs and constructs turnkey multi-energy refuelling stations which offer gas and electrical charging rather than conventional fuels.
Using a shipping container format, the ADS-TEC storage systems each supply two fast charging points with power. The points can increase grid performance and eliminate load peaks.
The containers include all required hardware and software, including the li-ion battery unit, power electronics, cooling system and control technology, plus safety and energy management systems.
As the storage units supplement grid energy with solar power, it is reported that the company can achieve a cost-efficient power supply for ultra-fast charging points, each delivering up to 200 kW.
Components in the refuelling systems are interconnected to support smart energy control. Simultaneous operation of the two fast charging points uses grid and battery energy.
Refuelling stations are located in Plan d’Orgon, near Avignon and Dourges, near Lille. The third and most recent site is in Fragnes La Loyere, near Chalon-sur-Saone, operating under the V-GAS brand name.
The EV recharging network will operate under the ZEN (Zero Emissions Network) brand.
Proviridis offers alternative fuels primarily for freight transport. Up until now, V-GAS has focused on delivering gas as fuel (liquified LNG, compressed CNG, biomethane, etc.), but with a long-term plan to deliver hydrogen.
