Daimler Truck has launched its new Rizon medium-duty truck brand. The new North American nameplate will be officially introduced at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, scheduled to be held in Anaheim, California, in early May.

The Rizon range will feature a series of medium-duty Class 4 and 5 battery-electric trucks. In addition to the vehicles, Rizon will look to support business owners as they plan implementation of zero-emissions transportation solutions.

Three model variants will be offered from launch, the e18L, e16L and e16M. ‘L’ models will be fitted with three battery packs, delivering a single-charge range of between 110 and 160 miles (177 to 257 km). ‘M’ versions will have two battery packs and a range of between 75 and 110 miles (120 to 177 km).

Telematics data access will be available, which should help to maximise range and overall performance.

With a gross vehicle weight of between 15,995 and 17,995 lb (7255 to 8160 kg), the trucks will be available in a series of bodystyles to suit various applications, including flatbeds, landscape dumps and reefers (refrigerated box).

In addition to truck sales, the dealership network will offer consulting on AC and DC charging requirements. Rizon trucks can use two types of battery charging systems; Level 2 AC charging (J1772) and DC fast charging (CCS1).

Trucks will feature a series of active and passive safety systems to protect drivers and pedestrians. Active Brake Assist and Active Side-Guard Assist (blind spot recognition) will feature.

The Rizon brand will be offered with a ‘class leading’ five-year, 75,000 mile warranty package covering the powertrain, chassis and cab. The battery packs will have a five-year, 120,000 mile warranty.

Incentive funding and tax credits will be available in some markets to help with purchase costs. Financing will be provided by Daimler Truck Financing.
