JLG Industries has introduced a new series of electric vertical mast lifts with a direct electric drive.

Expanding the company’s vertical mast offering, the new series comprises the E18MCL and E18MML models.

The electric machines are fitted with four “long-running” 6-Volt, 220 AH batteries, that JLG claims will double the duty cycles of comparative machines on the market.

The masts feature ergonomic controls and are available with five different platform options, which include extension decks and trays. A quick change platform system also enables operators to switch platforms in one minute to suit specific job requirements.

Like JLG’s scissor lifts, the E18 models include the manufacturer’s Multi-Display Indicate, which provides real-time machine data, and offer toolless entry into key areas for servicing and maintenance tasks.

The E18MCL is fitted with solid, non-marketing tires and incorporates a steering system that “is similar to JLG scissor lifts for quick familiarization and reliable control through tight areas like doorways,” said JLG.

Unlike its sister model, the E18MML vertical mast is designed for indoor use only and provides a platform height of 5.4m (18ft). The mast is suitable for maintenance and finishing works applications and is fitted with caster wheels that can be used on “sensitive” flooring.

The E18MML also incorporates the “traditional” Point & Go steering system, which JLG says makes the machine more akin to that of its predecessor models.

Misty Mason, JLG’s product manager, said, “The new E18 vertical lift series from JLG has been engineered to provide the most important features and benefits: Maximized durability, ease of serviceability and enhanced productivity — while keeping operator safety, confidence and comfort in mind.

“These new models offer an efficient and productive way to tackle up-and-over work and an alternative to using ladders and scaffolding.”

The standard E18s, which both have operating weights of 860kg (1,900lbs), are compatible with JLG’s Handheld Analyzer for troubleshooting and serviceability. “This reduces familiarization time and increases efficiency with parts, service and maintenance needs,” said Mason says.

They are also available with JLG’s Stock Picker Package option. Designed for warehouse and distribution sector, the option comprises a fold-down work tray platform with side entry saloon doors, gate alarm and dual amber beacons.

Other optional extras include the ClearSky telematics system for fleet maintenance and management, CleanGuard for leak containment and a USB charger and phone cradle.
