More management changes announced at Cummins

One day after Cummins Inc. announced promotions for two senior executives, the company followed up by making a second wave of moves to its leadership.

On Feb. 11, Cummins Inc. said that Tony Satterthwaite will become vice chairman and Jennifer Rumsey will succeed Satterthwaite as president and chief operating officer, with both moves effective March 1.

“I am thrilled to have Tony join the chairman’s office and confident he’s the right leader for this role, given the significant opportunities in front of us,” said Tom Linebarger, Cummins chairman and CEO. “Tony understands our business at all levels and has a truly global view, having lived for extensive periods in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. He’s a well-respected leader, strategist, mentor and thinker and an asset to our company.”

Satterthwaite joined Cummins in 1988 and began in product planning and sales. Over the course of his career, he has held leadership positions across the company’s global businesses and operations, including serving as president of Power Generation, president the Distribution Business and most recently as president and chief operating officer.

Prior to joining Cummins, Satterthwaite was an engineer with Schlumberger.

Rumsey joined Cummins in 2000 and has held a variety of leadership roles over the course of her career, including positions in advanced engineering, product development, and quality. She has served as the vice president of Engineering for the Engine Business, chief technical officer for Cummins, and most recently as president of the Components business.

Prior to joining Cummins, Rumsey worked on fuel cell development with Nuvera Fuel Cells.

“Technology is evolving more rapidly now than at any other time in history and Jen’s extensive technical experience and leadership make her ideal for the role of President and Chief Operating Officer,” said Linebarger. “Jen has served in a variety of business and technical leadership positions at Cummins and has been incredibly successful in every role. She has been instrumental in developing some of the most important products and technologies Cummins has created.”

On Feb. 12, Cummins announced an additional series of leadership appointments, which will also take effect March 1. These include:

Mahesh Narang to vice president & president of the Components Segment. Narang brings significant experience to this position, having led two of the Components business units - Cummins Emission Solutions and Cummins Turbo Technologies. Narang has worked at Cummins for almost 20 years in a variety of global roles. He has been a member of the Components leadership team since 2015.

Cary Chenanda to vice president – Cummins Emission Solutions. Chenanda has worked at Cummins for over 20 years with deep experience in the Components Segment and in leading a global business and developing talent. Chenanda previously established and led Cummins Electronics and in 2017, he oversaw the unification of the Cummins Electronics and Cummins Fuel System Businesses into one combined business.

Marina Savelli to vice president – Cummins Electronics and Fuel Systems. Savelli has been with Cummins for 27 years and has worked in many parts of the company. Savelli has held various global finance and business leadership roles in Cummins Filtration, roles in purchasing and for the off-highway business in Cummins Emissions Solutions, and has led the Global Market Insights Group. Most recently, Savelli served on the Distribution Business Segment leadership team as executive director – Sales and Service.

Cathy Buening-Griffin to vice president – Business Transformation. Buening-Griffin has been with Cummins for 30 years. She most recently served as vice president – Program leadership, Global VI as a member of the Components leadership team, delivering both the NSVI and BSVI platforms for China and India in 2019 and early 2020.

Mark Osowick to vice president – Human Resources. Osowick has been with Cummins for almost 25 years and has led Human Resources Operations since 2014.

John Brockhaus to vice president – Human Resources Operations. Brockhaus has been in the HR organization since joining Cummins in 1997 and has worked in almost every part of the function.
