Tevva receives grant money from Advanced Propulsion Centre

Tevva Truck The Tevva Truck was unveiled in September

Having recently unveiled its Tevva Truck in September, UK-based electric truck manufacturer Tevva has announced the company has received a £4.2 million ($5.7 million, €4.94 million) portion of a £5.7 million grant from the UK’s Advanced Propulsion Centre.

The grant money will help to finance development of Tevva’s next-generation, zero-emission long-range medium-duty trucks (7.5 to 19-tonne GVW).

The grant will serve as part of the SANGREAL Project, a £12.2 million collaboration between Tevva and Advanced Electric Machines, a company focusing on sustainable transport.

The partnership will focus on development of Tevva’s fuel cell, range-extended medium- to heavy-duty commercial electric vehicles for the ‘back to base’ market.

This involves design and development of a new electric transaxle and intelligent vehicle propulsion system with onboard telematics. This will also support predictive and preventative maintenance.

Commenting on the grant, Ken Scott, chief engineer at Tevva, said: “We are developing zero-emission solutions for higher weight class ‘return to base’ logistics vehicles which offer true cost of ownership benefit compared with diesel offerings, with extended range. This funding will help make this a reality in the near future.”
