Quantron vehicles First reveal of the initial Quantron vehicle offering

Quantron, a battery distributor and manufacturer of electric and hydrogen drivetrains for commercial vehicles, has revealed that it intends to bring its own zero-emissions vehicles to market as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Under the ‘Quantron Vision 2025’ banner, the company, based in Augsburg, Germany, intends to build a strong brand DNA by creating vehicles with a ‘unique Quantron look and feel’. The company states that aesthetic function will also deliver the aerodynamics needed to meet energy consumption requirements.

The vehicles will be designed by Fabio Filippini, who was previously at Pininfarina Transportation Design in Turin, Italy.

The Quantron Vision 2025 will start with a 12-metre low-floor bus. This will be available to order as a BEV from the end of 2021, while a hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) version will be offered from Q2 2022. Designs for a light truck and a heavy truck for the US market are in the planning stages.

“Our ambition has to be that by 2025 latest, our sustainability-focussed customers will recognise a Quantron product at first sight, clean, sophisticated, high tech and representing the future of sustainable transportation,” said Michael Perschke, CEO of Quantron.

Batteries supplied by Quantron are produced by Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), described as the largest producer in the world of batteries used in commercial vehicles and industrial applications.

Cell2Pack battery solutions delivered by Quantron are based on LFP cells. They feature a high energy density and high sustainability, due to using no cobalt. Packs are available in sizes ranging from 24 to 800 volts and 30 to 800 kWh. The packs are suitable for electrified vehicles used in construction, logistics and municipal refuse collection, as well buses and airport transits.
