Webinar: Future Fuels and their Role in Future-proofing Power Generation

Alternative fuels’ role as an efficient energy source for backup power and microgrids

A variety of fuel types are being explored to ensure backup power systems and microgrids can deliver efficient, reliable energy in mission-critical applications. Hydrogen has come to the forefront as one of the most promising alternatives for today and tomorrow’s engine power plants and energy solutions.

Carl Richers, vice president of product management & marketing for INNIO’s Jenbacher division, will address this topic as part of the webinar “Future Fuels and their Role in Future-proofing Power Generation”, which will take place November 16, at 9 a.m. CST/4 p.m. CET.

Richers will discuss how engine-based power plants can be designed to support a smooth transition from pipeline gas to hydrogen. His presentation will describe the benefits of high-efficiency CHP (Combined Heat and Power) and how a flexible CHP solution can be designed to meet future demands as a complement to renewables. He will also showcase several existing hydrogen and hydrogen CHP project examples.

Richers has led INNIO’s Jenbacher product management and strategic marketing since 2019. In his role, he is responsible for allocating the development budget, positioning the Jenbacher products and defining the brand’s strategy.

He joined GE’s Distributed Power business in 2015 as senior product manager for Series 6. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant and project manager at the Boston Consulting Group in Hamburg, Germany, and as a new product introduction (NPI) program manager at Caterpillar, where he managed cross-functional development projects for diesel and dual-fuel engines.

Richers has a degree in industrial engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He also studied at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in Barcelona.
